Spots:

This is a review of the beaches we have skimmed along the Oregon coast.  It is by no means complete, and we hope to continue to update it as we travel and discover more beaches.

Most of the beaches are long, flat.  The sand is fine which allows for great flatland riding.  As the sport grows in our state, I’m sure we’ll see more and more foamies riding the waves.

You can usually skim anytime on the Oregon Coast.  There can be some outstanding winter days with moderate weather in the mid-fifties. A wet suit or neopreame top is not a bad idea.

Obviously our recommendations must be taken with caution as the pacific ocean has unpredictable, unforgiving, and frigid waves. Use common sense and caution when skimming-take a buddy, and avoid stormy days.

Oregon has outstanding state parks with loads of campground available.  In the summer months, they can be crowded, so check the Oregon State Parks website for details.

After skimming, you can visit any state campground (there are many along the coastline) that has shower facilities and shower for two dollars. Money well spent after a skim session.

As usual, time of year and tides can alter beaches.  Our rule of thumb is to try to skim an hour or two after high tide.

The review starts at the Northern most point of the Oregon Coast on HWY 101 and proceeds south. Any road map or atlas will list these beaches.
